Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
