Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Mayra on Dec.28, 2016, under Poker
Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
