Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
