Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
