No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

by Mayra on Feb.14, 2010, under Poker

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
